Osteoarthritis, or OA, is the commonly occur type of arthritis, affecting up to 15 million Indians every year. OA is also known as degenerative joint disease.

It usually develops after age 45, but juvenile osteoarthritis is also a growing concern. OA can affect any joint, but it occurs most often in knees, hips, lower back and neck, small joints of the fingers and the bases of the thumb and big toe. The most common symptoms are pain and stiffness in the hips, hands, knees, lower back and neck joints mostly felt in the morning.
