Dr. Gurwant Singh Lamba is a seasoned Gastroenterologist from New Delhi who has been associated with Sri Balaji Action Medical institute as Chief of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. An alumnus of Maulana Azad Medical College from where he secured MBBS and MD in Medicine, Dr. Lamba accomplished DM in Gastroenterology from GB Pant Hospital. 

His selection at GB Pant Hospital to pursue DM was on the basis of his first position which he secured during nation wide entrance examination conducted by University of Delhi. During his DM training program, he was involved in the management of outpatients, inpatients, intensive care patients & postoperative patients. He also received extensive training in Diagnostic & Therapeutic Endoscopy including UGI Endoscopy, Colonoscopy & ERCP. This period gave him an opportunity to be part of various research projects. Post his DM training, Dr. Lamba worked as Senior Research Associate in the same department for a period of 15 months. He has also underwent special training in advanced pancreatic therapeutic ERCP at PVS Memorial Hospital Cochin under the guidance of leading therapeutic Endoscopist of India Dr. Philip Augustine. 

Dr. Lamba then joined the faculty of G B Pant Hospital as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Gastroenterology in 1998. The work included clinical management of patients, diagnostic & therapeutic endoscopy and research. He was involved in the teaching of post graduates and DM fellows and their endoscopic training as per the university curriculum besides being involved in organizing various national and international conferences and public forums. Dr. Lamba was the member of the core committee for formulation of national guidance for management of Hepatitis B & C patients. His land mark research on Prophylaxis of Variceal Hemorrhage was published in New England Journal of Medicine.

He has also organized "Hepatitis Awareness Day" in December 1999 and 2000 as a part of joint effort by Government of NCT Delhi and GB Pant Hospital Delhi to spread awareness of Hepatitis among general public.

Since 2000, Dr. Jain has been associated with leading hospitals of Delhi such as Senior Consultant Gastroenterologist. He played an important role to set up centre for liver and digestive diseases at Maharaja Agrasen Hospital Delhi

Dr. Lamba is currently associated with Sri Balaji Action Medical Institute as Senior Consultant Gastroenterologist. Sri balaji Action Medical Institute is equipped with Video Endoscopic Systems (UGI, LGI, ERCP & Enteroscope), Argon Plasma Coagulation System, Haemoclip Applicator & Endoscopic Suturing Device, Capsule Endoscopy, and High Resolution Manometry. Centre undertakes Endoscopic training course for doctors from all over India and abroad in addition to providing a dedicated teaching program for DNB fellows. Centre has provided training to candidates from UK, UAE, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Philippines, Albania, Iraq, Lebanon and Bangladesh.
